Communication

We understand how vital good communication between school and home is, in order to ensure the children make the best progress possible and reach their full potential as all round individuals and valued members of our community.

We believe a strong partnership between home, school and the local community enables children to enjoy and achieve the best they can socially, emotionally and academically. We communicate through a range of media in order to support busy families.  We send out information via ParentMail, keep in touch about events with photos through Facebook and our weekly newsletter and develop daily links with parents through Marvellous Me and our Learning Logs.

Marvellous Me is a parent communication platform on which class teachers will post a weekly update of the learning that has taken place in class that week. Parents and carers are also able view the reward their child has earned through their Marvellous Me account.

Learning Logs: learning logs provide a daily link for parents, particular for our parents who are unable to see their child’s class teacher at pick up and drop off.

At the start of each academic year, every child is given a learning log. Our learning logs is a valuable resource filled with useful information to support the children with their learning both in school and at home, and to enable parents and carers to understand and support their children with methods of learning used in school. It should be brought to and from home/school daily.

The first section of the learning log includes information, key facts and key skills such as: calendar dates; uniform and behaviour expectations; learning behaviours; prompts for writing; key skills for reading and talking; phonics and spelling; grammar terminology; a guide to maths calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division); times tables lists; key skills progressions; a list of countries of the world and their respective capitals and a world map.

The second section of the learning log contains a weekly log where reading is recorded – both at home and school. Parents and carers should ensure the log is regularly signed.

The final section of the learning log contains our academy PLACE Awards.
