Admissions

We welcome children from our catchment area and the surrounding area, full details are on the admissions policy below. As a parent/carer you have a right to express a preference of school even if you do not live in the immediate area. If you are interested in your child attending Bar Hill Primary School, we would encourage you to visit or attend one of our open mornings.

To apply for a place in our Early Years Foundation Stage Reception class, parents and carers will need to go through the Cambridgeshire County Council (CCC) admissions process, details of this can be found on the Cambridgeshire County Council website www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk .

For a place in any other year group, we recommend that parents and carers contact the school in the first instance so that we can liaise with Cambridgeshire County Council over the offer of any places. You can also apply directly through Cambridgeshire County Council as above.  Please see our full admissions policy below.

The school uses Cambridgeshire County Council (CCC) to manage its appeals. CCC will prepare guidance for parents and relevant children about how the appeals process will work and a named contact who can answer any questions parents may have about the process.  Appeal forms are available from the Cambridgeshire County Council website.

Our admission policies can be found below.  Parents and carers of prospective pupils are encouraged to visit the school by contacting the office.

Requesting deferred entry

Parents of a summer born child may choose not to send that child to school until the September following their fifth birthday and may request that they are admitted out of their normal age group – to reception rather than year 1. If parents wish to make an application for deferred entry they can follow the instructions on the Cambridgeshire County Council Website or through the following link: here

Secondary Transfer

The school has very close links with Swavesey Village College, which is an outstanding secondary school.

The Year 6 pupils visit the college during their last term at Bar Hill and members of the college staff meet the children.
