Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium is an allocation of additional funding provided to schools to support specific groups of children who are vulnerable to possible underachievement. These include children who are entitled to free school meals; those looked after by the Local Authority and the children of armed service personnel.

All schools are required to report on the amount of funding received, how this is being used and the impact of the funding.

Priorities

  • To narrow the attainment gap for disadvantaged children.
  • To provide experiences that broaden horizons, inspire and raise aspirations.
  • To facilitate resources to enhance social and emotional development.

At Bar Hill Primary School, all members of staff and the Academy Council accept responsibility for socially disadvantaged children and are committed to meeting their pastoral, social and academic needs. BHPS is committed to ‘narrowing the attainment gap’ between these vulnerable children and all pupils nationally – the pupil premium grant supports with this work. We recognise that not all children who are socially disadvantaged are registered, or qualify for free school meals, funding is therefore allocated to support all children or groups of children that the academy recognises as being socially disadvantaged. Miss Linden is our named Pupil Premium champion and she works with the children, academy councillors, the senior leadership team, parents and staff to ensure the needs of Pupil Premium children are being met.
